The damage
It sucks sap, excretes sugary substances that favor sooty mold (a black fungus on the leaves) and transmits viruses, such as bean golden mosaic. The plant loses vigor and yield.
Biological strategy
Beauveria bassiana is a natural enemy of more than 700 insect species. It colonizes whitefly nymphs and adults and keeps the population under continuous control, while preserving the field's natural enemies.
