The damage
A sucking pest that transmits the mollicutes and viruses of the corn stunt complex. Plants become stunted and reddish, with small, poorly filled ears, and the loss shows up when it is already too late to react.
Biological strategy
Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae are entomopathogenic fungi: the spores germinate on the insect, penetrate it and colonize it. The nymph and adult population drops and, with it, transmission of corn stunt.
