Overview

Yellowing plants with few active (pink) nodules on the roots grow less and depend on mineral nitrogen: higher cost and lower yield.

Crops where it occurs

How to monitor

Dig up a few plants about 30 days after emergence and count the pink nodules on the roots.

When to apply

In seed treatment, on planting day. It can be reinforced with a foliar application (co-inoculation).

Biological management strategy

Nitrogen-fixing bacteria form nodules on the roots that capture nitrogen from the air and deliver it to the plant, as well as stimulating phytohormones that expand the root system. It is nitrogen produced within the field, at a much lower cost per hectare.
